Our blog has moved to homeschoolden.com. This is the older version of our blog... which shared the homeschooling adventures of our kids who were 8 (LD), 6 (DD) and 3 1/2 (ED) (and the years up until then!). If you are looking for all our science and history packets (and math/language arts/etc!!) -- you'll find them at our new home! homeschoolden.com

Science Center Monday -- Water Surface Tension Experiments
It has been a very busy week and I'm just now getting
around to talking about this week's science experiment.
We talked about surface tension this week and how a
skin-like layer (called a meniscus) forms on the top of
the water. We saw how this allows water to rise up over
the top of the little cup.
All three of the kids repeated these experiments a
number of times. They especially liked using the eye
dropper, though. They were really fascinated to see how
high the water went above the cup.
Adding pennies was more difficult for the DD (and nearly
impossible for ED) because as you can see they put their
little fingers into the water!
