The Sistine Chapel

If you are doing art appreciation, you might be interested in going on a virtual tour of the Sistine Chapel. This website was absolutely gorgeous and well worth a look at Michelangelo's magnificent work:
You can scroll in and out and move the cursor around to see different parts of the room... not just the famous portions like The Creation of Adam below (photo from Wikimedia Commons).
If you are wanting to add in some art appreciation, be sure to hop on over to Confessions of a Homeschooler.  Erica has a wonderful free art curriculum called  "World's Greatest Artists." You'll find it on her right sidebar under as the last entry under "My Curriculum."

  1. When we were studying the Sistine Chapel I had the kids tape paper underneath our kitchen table and then paint their pictures. They loved it and it gave them a greater understanding of the difficulty of painting the Sistine chapel.

  2. What a great idea! We're not doing art history at the moment, but I'll definitely keep that idea in the back of my mind! Thanks for sharing! ~Liesl
