Preschool Activity -- pipe cleaner tree

Twist pipe cleaners together, spread
out the branches, put on bits of construction
paper. (Depending on the age of your child,
you might need to use a hole punch to the
center of the construction paper if you want
this to be an independent activity for your
preschooler).

Hole punching -- I used a wooden skewer with a few rubber
bands wrapped around them. You can also off them a push
pin (this how some Montessori schools do it).

For a while my 5 year old LOVED doing these. I had to make
all kinds of Star Wars star fighter, jet and other "dot pictures"
(while my 3 year old wanted butterflies, balloons, fairies and
so forth). This activity has expanded from these first simple
dot pictures I showed below!

Use an eyedropper and colorful water to move from water
from one container to another. If your child is older, you
can also offer the syringe type dropper.

Preschool Activities -- Cross Stitch, spiral cutting

My kids needed help threading the needle, but really enjoyed
the "sewing" part. be sure to use a big, blunt embroidery
needle.

Preschool Activity -- Teens board

If your preschooler is ready to work on the
teen numbers, you can set out the "teens
board," a Montessori activity. Our math
curriculum has us refer to these numbers as
"one ten and one" (11), "one ten and two" (12)
and so forth.

Also have the child set out a
string of 10 beads and one bead, a string of
ten beads and two beads, etc.

Preschool Activity -- Sorting patches

I had a lot of colorful patches on hand that never got used
for another project. My 3 year old has had a lot of fun
playing with them -- sorting them (butterflies, flowers,
other) and using them with a felt board activity. I even
bring this (and the felt bear activity) on trips in the car
and she'll happily sit and tell stories moving the pieces
around.

sorting activity (a cotton ball, a toy sheep
and cow, thread, yarn, a wool hat, a piece
of paper etc)

Preschool Activities -- Fishing tackle box

For lack of a better place to put this, I'll just mention this
here: We gave my daughter an old fishing tackle box (it
used to hold my sewing stuff) and she uses it to hold all
those small people/animals etc that kids seem to collect.
This has been awesome because it's easy to clean up and
she can transport it around.
